This meeting will have a very concrete objective
It is rather difficult to reproduce Davos elsewhere. And is it really necessary to substitute it? I don’t think it is. In my opinion, meetings of major entrepreneurs - economic figures of Russia and the CIS states with representatives of Western economic groups, should be held in St.Petersburg. I think that the difference between meetings in Switzerland and in Russia is that in Davos, the West is solving its own problems while listening to Russia and the CIS countries and in St.Petersburg, new, in the economic sense, Russia and the CIS countries will be discussing their problems with each other and with representatives of Western capital. And this meeting will have a very concrete objective - to define the course of our development in such a way that would make collaboration with us interesting and profitable for the West. The future will show us the opportunities of such a meeting. Generally speaking, the problem is not to declare such a meeting aloud but to organize every detail of it. The financial scheme is also very important. It is not only where to get the money but also how to use it wisely. As the saying goes, the devil is in the workings. As for the place, St.Petersburg was not chosen by chance. If one is going to establish contacts with representatives from the West, one cannot think of a place better situated, with a culture and spirit to match that. An interview by Alexei Shchukin
