Two days remain before the opening in St. Petersburg of the Third International Multi-Field Transtec-98 Exhibition. It is timed to coincide with the Fourth International Euro-Asian conference on Transport. Organizers include Lenexpo, Transtec-Neva Exhibitions, and Dolphin Exhibitions Ltd. It has the support of the Ministries of Transport and Communications as well as the administrations of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region. The exhibition's main "exhibit", so to speak, is the fact that it is being held concurrently with the Eurasian Conference. Participants at the forum have the unique opportunity to see all the latest achievement in various fields of industry. The products of Russian companies are on display; moreover, the majority of these companies are either direct producers of technology or offer services transporting people and freight. Over 200 hundred companies from 23 countries are participating. In the words of Aleksandr Tikhomirov, the exhibition's director, its main task is to attract Russian and foreign investors for reconstructing and modernizing Russia's transport infrastructure. This is particularly topical for realizing the TASIS EC program for creating favorable conditions for the functioning of the 9th Transport Corridor's Russian sector and for the resolution of freight-transit questions related to transit through the territory of the Russian Federation along the Center-South line and the Center-TransSiberian-Far East line. The exhibition, housed in two pavilions of Lenexpo, represents all the major areas of transport, including rail, water, air, expediting, production and use of technology.
